1. Multifunction Meters (MFM)
These compact devices measure voltage, current, power, frequency, and harmonics everything you need to understand your system’s behavior in real time. They are the engineer’s window into energy performance and fault diagnostics.
2. Ammeters and Voltmeters
Although older in concept, these instruments still play a vital role for on site quick checks. They allow visual verification of load balance and supply conditions even without communication tools.
3. Protection Relays
Protection relays act as the brain of switchgear protection. They monitor current and voltage to detect faults and trip circuit breakers when needed. (Some, like Restricted Earth Fault (REF), offer highly sensitive earth-fault detection for transformer/busbar zones.)
4. Control and Signaling Devices
Pushbuttons, selector switches, indicator lamps, and mimic diagrams allow operators to control and monitor the panel safely. Each device must be clearly labeled and wired according to IEC standards to avoid human error during operation.

Modern panels use Modbus, Ethernet, or IEC 61850 communication for remote supervision. This integration allows smart maintenance, energy tracking, and SCADA connectivity.
